Bertie County Teachers Welcomed

For the s
econd year in a row, the Windsor Bertie County Chamber of Commerce sponsored a day
during which new teachers for Bertie County were shown many of the highlights of our County. The day
started Wednesday at the Freeman Hotel, the home of the Chamber of Commerce and ended at Hope
Plantation, the home of David Stone, Bertie Countie's former Governor of the State of North Carolina.

Many of the town of Windsor and County dignitaries gathered to greet the teachers and welcome them
to our community and their new positions of responsibility with our children. From left above are Steve

Executive Director Collins Cooper welcomed the audience and talked about some of the things that are
happening in our community.

Reverend Joe Cooper introduced the recipient of the Outstanding Citizen Award, presented to Bill
Pittman.

Bill Pittman accepts the plaque honoring him as Outstanding Citizen for Windsor Bertie County. Bill's
comments were typical of this respected gentleman.

Next on the Agenda was introduction of the night's speaker. Windsor Commissioner Hoyt Cooper
introduced Representative Annie Mobley.
Representative Annie Mobley  lives currently in Hertford County, but she was born here in Bertie County.
She talked about our region and her hopes for its growth and success.
There was a good crowd at the new Convention Center and the room proved to be a great place to hold
this type of dinner event.

One of the highlights of the evening was the excellent food that was provided by our local organization,
Hammerhead's,  Minnie Hoggard, Stacey Harrell, Lisa Harrell, Luis Hoggard and Deb Everett.

It was a great night for Windsor and Bertie County.
